Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost? +
Most cases are resolved with a $450 flat-fee price and all of our pricing is transparent and upfront. View our full pricing page for details on each type of expungement.
How long does the process take? +
Most cases are completed in 30-90 days depending on the county and whether a hearing is required. Simple cases like public intoxication can be faster, while complex misdemeanor expungements may take longer.
Do I have to go to court? +
Usually not. Most Iowa expungements are granted without a hearing. If a hearing is required, our attorney appears on your behalf—you typically don't need to attend.
What can be expunged in Iowa? +
Deferred judgments, dismissed/acquitted cases, public intoxication, PAULA, and one misdemeanor conviction under Iowa Code §901C.3. Expungement in Iowa is limited, though, and most felonies, OWIs, sex offenses, and domestic abuse generally cannot be expunged. Take our eligibility quiz to find out what applies to your case.
Will my record be completely erased? +
Your record will be sealed from public view (Iowa Courts Online, background checks), but it's not destroyed. Certain agencies (courts, prosecutors, law enforcement) can still access it. However, for employment and housing purposes, you can legally answer "no" when asked if you've been convicted.
